That was the year of the Northeast blackout. I went to Sundance for the first time and saw Jamie Foxx in Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story, which I believe prepared him for Ray. Oh yeah, and I got married and honeymooned in Orlando (at Disneyworld and Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure).
The most sentimental movies released: silly comedies like View from the Top (3/21), Down with Love (5/9), and The School of Rock (10/3); the first entries into some series which I really like - Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (7/11) and Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (10/10); as for "Mormon movies, they started to tank with a modern retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (12/5), which I walked out on during a free screening
Music artists I discovered or got back into: Zwan - Mary Star of the Sea (1/28); The Postal Service - Give Up (2/18); Venus Hum - Big Beautiful Sky (4/1); Third Eye Blind - Out of the Vein (5/13); Dave Gahan (going solo from Depeche Mode) - Paper Monsters (6/3)
Comic book series I started following with the first issue: Judge Dredd vs. Aliens: Incubus (March), PS238 (March), and Marvel: 1602 (November); this year belonged to Marvel, along with all the years going back to Heroes Reborn, mostly because of big-screen adaptations like Spider-Man and X-Men, even though I wasn't there to see Marvel Knights and the dawning of the Ultimate Universe firsthand
Restaurants I discovered: Charlie Chow's Dragon Grill and the hot dog vendor at State Street and Broadway (Downtown SLC)
