U2 Is As Old As I Am

In honor of their new album out today, I'm including a list (big surprise) of my top twenty U2 songs (see my 10/28/08 post for The Cure). I sampled No Line on the Horizon (2009) on iTunes last night and nothing stood out. This doesn't come as a shock to me, since I didn't appreciate the last two albums either, All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000) or How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (2004). It's all good though. While visiting the iTunes U2 page, I noticed that many early albums were remastered last year and re-released with bonus discs. It should be obvious which are my favorite and least favorite albums by the number of songs from each one below (or by which albums are not represented at all):

1. "Out of Control" (1979) alternate version from the EP, Three
2. "Boy/Girl" (1979) studio version from the EP, Three
3. "I Will Follow" (1980) from the album, Boy
4. "Pride" (1984) from the album, The Unforgettable Fire
5. "Bad" (1984) from the album, The Unforgettable Fire
6. "Running To Stand Still" (1987) from the album, The Joshua Tree
7. "Trip Through Your Wires" (1987) from the album, The Joshua Tree
8. "Sweetest Thing" (1987) B-side on the single, Where the Streets Have No Name
9. "Desire" (1988) from the album, Rattle and Hum
10. "All I Want Is You" (1988) from the album, Rattle and Hum
11. "A Room at the Heartbreak Hotel" (1988) B-side on the single, Angel of Harlem
12. "Alex Descends Into Hell For a Bottle of Milk/Korova I" (1991) B-side on the single, The Fly
13. "Tryin' To Throw Your Arms around the World" (1991) from the album, Achtung Baby
14. "Lady With the Spinning Head" (1992) B-side on the single, One
15. "Stay" (1993) from the album, Zooropa
16. "Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car" (1993) from the album, Zooropa
17. "Some Days Are Better Than Others" (1993) from the album, Zooropa
18. "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" (1995) from the soundtrack for Batman Forever
19. "If God Will Send His Angels" (1997) from the album, Pop
20. "Beautiful Day" (2000) from the album, All That You Can't Leave Behind; my absolute favorite U2 song
