National Ride Your Bike to Work Day Is Today

So here's how the acquisition of the bike went down: I made the mistake of telling my dad one day over the phone that I'd ride my bike to work if I had one, not even thinking about where I would probably store said item. Why is that such a big mistake? Because we shouldn't tempt our fellow man and my dad is way too big a bike lover and way too generous already to face a temptation such as I placed before him. Anyway, my parents come out to visit last October and the night before they're leaving to go back home, we say our goodbyes. Only my parents don't leave early the next morning. Turns out my dad just can't prevent himself from stopping by Target on the way out of town. So I come home from work for lunch, expecting my parents to be gone already, but behold! I see my dad in the driveway with my neighbor adjusting handlebars on a bike that I have nowhere to store. Except for in the rain, (which comes often enough in San Diego) or in my living room. What could I do??? The worst part is that the maintenance costs more than the bike is worth. The best part is that I live exactly seven blocks (but one very steep hill) from work.
