Playlist For My Funeral

Yesterday was Memorial Day. Who did you remember? How did you pay your respects? Don't think I'm putting anyone on the spot. And don't let my title fool you into spreading rumors that I'm dying. These are just some things to think about, but I don't want you to think me morbid. The purpose of this post is just to save my surviving family members and friends the hassle of last-minute funeral preparations. I don't really want a funeral. Just put my lifeless body in a cardboard box and cremate it or dump it somewhere for vultures. You may think I'm joking but I'm not. The only thing I want is for the song "Blackbird" by The Beatles to be played after my passing. If enough people want to get together for more than two or three minutes to contemplate my life, than I might as well fill up a whole CD for them. No talking, just sitting and listening to music with the volume turned all the way up the point of discomfort. But the songs won't be uncomfortable. They'll sum up the things I want to say and the feelings I want people to move on with. If people demand formal hymns to open a service, may I recommend my personal favorite, "I Feel My Savior's Love," or more appropriately, "I Lived in Heaven" (both from the LDS Children's Songbook). If someone has to do some talking, I've got two brothers that are entertaining orators. But at the very least, I just want everyone to stop and listen to "Blackbird." So there, that is my last will and testament. Well, not really. I doubt blog posts ever count for legally binding documents.
