2005

That was the year of Hurrican Katrina, my first pro soccer and baseball games, Coachella music festival and Christmas at a friend's parents' house.

The most sentimental movies released: hard-hitting action/adventure like Mr. & Mrs. Smith (6/10), The Island (7/22), King Kong (12/16); my pick for "Mormon movie" of the year is God's Army 2: States of Grace (direct-to-DVD), but just for the drive-by shooting scene

Music artists I discovered or got back into: Beck - Guero and The Bravery - The Bravery (both 3/29); DJ Z-Trip - Shifting Gears (4/19); Imogen Heap - Speak for Yourself (7/18); and Enya - Amarantine (11/22)

Comic book series I followed from the first issue: Aeon Flux, All-Star Superman, The Imaginaries, The Legion of Super Heroes, and Polly and the Pirates; this year belonged to DC for their big event prelude Countdown to Infinite Crisis and the death of the Blue Beetle, but also because I couldn't care about Marvel's millions of House of M titles

Restaurants I discovered: BBQ House and Ortega's (both in Point Loma)
