2006
That was the year of the Amish school shooting, my middle brother got married in Phoenix, and we returned to Vegas on Halloween night (crazy) for the last Cirque du Soleil we had yet to see (Kà).
The most sentimental movies released: the previous year's hard-hitting action/adventure graduates to grim and gritty thrillers like The Departed (10/6), Casino Royale (11/17), and Children of Men (12/29) - the best movie of the entire decade; also, Jet Li's Fearless (9/22) and Rocky Balboa (12/22)
Music artists I discovered: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones (3/27); BT - This Binary Universe (8/29)
Books I read: A Scanner Darkly and Bridge to Terabithia (in anticipation of their movies, which added all the fantasy CGI elements while adding nothing to the stories); in comics, this year belonged to Marvel, whose big event Civil War beat DC's 52 hands down
Restaurants I discovered: Bareback Grill (New Zealand Burgers) and Bobalicious (bubble tea)
