I'm off to Toronto for a week (home of the Bata Shoe Museum, where the stackable chairs in the lobby are the most comfortable I've ever sat in). I don't know what I'm going to do because I've already been up to the top of the CN Tower (pictured above), rode the subway, shopped at Kensington Market and Eaton Centre mall, toured Casa Loma ("castle"), visited the Hockey Hall of Fame, and walked along the beaches where my in-laws live. Despite all that, my favorite attraction oddly enough is still the Ontario College of Art and Design (hardly a tourist trap, but it looks cool and there's an art museum next door). What I didn't know until I prepared this list though is that Toronto is home to the world's longest street (Yonge, starting at the city's lakeshore) and this year is the city's 175th anniversary. Here are the dates for Canada's biggest comic book, film, and music festivals (which I have missed or will miss later on):
26th Annual CMW - March 11-14; there's also the Edgefest, Olympic Island, and Ovation music festivals
Fan Expo Canada - August 28-30; Toronto Comic-Con is just a fan appreciation event this year
Toronto International Film Festival - September 10-19; I just learned that Toronto is home to the world's first permanent IMAX theater
